Portable Document Format (PDF)

PDF was created by Adobe to be, as the name implies, a portable format in which to exchange documents. This format has gained increasing acceptance as a standard medium of formatted textual and graphical information. Visit Adobe's site for more information about Adobe PDF and the free, downloadable Acrobat Reader for most platforms.

The Chaos Research Group's WWW site has PDF versions of preprints of some of its publications. Before 1999-07-29, the PDF files were slightly corrupted in that some graphics were displayed improperly. On 1999-07-28, the PDFs were converted from PostScript using Adobe Distiller, and the site was then updated with these better versions.
